Christmas 2010
The Christmas 2010 issue highlights the University singers, The Jamaican Folk Singers, The Kingston College Chapel Choir and The NDTC Singers. The University singer has distinguished itself as one of the leading choral groups in the Caribbean. The group began in 1957 with seven undergrad students who met for the sheer joy of singing. The Jamaican Folk Singers is a non-profit singing group which was founded on March 15, 1967 by Dr. Olive Lewin. The group has received international recognition and acclaim, performing in the U.S, Canada, and Great British etc. Kingston College Chapel Choir was founded in 1947, to complement the newly built St. Augustine Chapel at the Clovelly Park campus. NDTC singers have been an integral part of the annual performance of the company since its very inception in 1962, presenting songs which accompany and energize work, social activity, socio- religious observances, and the music of religion. Christmas 2013
The Christmas 2013 issue highlights plants and flowers grown in Jamaica. Featured on the $20.00 stamp is the Night Blooming Cereus (Cereus Greggii) also known as the Arizona Queen of the night. It is famous for blooming large white flowers with silky petals that emerges late on mid-summer nights. The $60.00 stamp depicts the berries of Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee. The Blue Mountain Coffee is noted for its mild flavor and lack of bitterness, it’s grown in a recognized region of Blue Mountain that has some of the highest mountains in the Caribbean. The Century Palm is featured on the $120.00 stamp. It is a self destructive palm tree that blooms once every hundred (100) years in its life time and dies. The cost of set is $360.00 and the first day cover is for $600.00.
